GIIS KL hosted an inspiring session under its Alumni Talk Series for the academic year 2026–27 recently. Held in the GIIS KL Auditorium on September 25, 2026, the event was organized specifically for the senior students of Class 11 and Class 12 to provide them with valuable perspective, guidance, and real-world insights as they prepare for higher education and future career pathways. In alignment with the school’s 9 Gems holistic education framework, specifically Personality Development and Innovation and Creativity, the session aimed to equip students with practical wisdom beyond the classroom.
The guest speaker for the event was Mr. Smit Tanksale, a proud alumnus of GIIS KL who studied at the school until graduating from Class 9 in 2013. Following his time at GIIS, he pursued higher education internationally, earning a degree in Electrical Systems from the University of Melbourne. Blending his technical background with an entrepreneurial mindset, Mr. Tanksale went on to establish his own venture, founding Healthy Wellness.
Centred around the theme "From GIIS to the real world, a journey of ideas, challenges and possibilities," Mr. Tanksale offered students an authentic look into navigating post-school life. He spoke candidly about cultivating resilience during the academic and personal transition to an international university setup, emphasizing that setbacks serve as natural stepping stones to growth. Reflecting on his own career shift from electrical engineering to the health and wellness sector, he advised the senior batch to keep an open mind, explore diverse disciplines, and align their career choices with evolving passions. Furthermore, he shared firsthand experiences of building Healthy Wellness from the ground up, providing an insightful perspective on turning abstract ideas into a successful business.
The interactive address was followed by an engaging Q&A session, during which Class 11 and 12 students enthusiastically asked questions regarding university life in Australia, strategies for managing academic stress, and the initial steps required to venture into entrepreneurship. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks, leaving the senior batch motivated, equipped with realistic expectations, and inspired to confidently embrace the endless possibilities awaiting them beyond school walls.
